Overview:
A Bangladeshi garment manufacturing company struggled with constant smudging on the RFID labels they used to brand their clothes. This problem was particularly sensitive, as label clarity was vital for recognition and compliance with country standards.
Despite analysing their printing process and ensuring the printhead was cleaned, the issue persisted. Having the need for specific help, they came to ACE for an alternative solution.

Challenge:
Persistent smudging on RFID Semi-gloss sticker. The company had tried using 2 different types of Thermal Transfer Ribbons that their current supplier had provided but both kept smudging after printing.
For a labelling solution, the company required one that offered a high degree of smudge resistance to ensure that the information placed on the labels remained perfectly legible despite repeated handling.

Solution Provided by ACE:
Upon consulting ACE, both printers for the garment company and the label material were critically analysed.
By using this method, ACE realised that the main problem was with its thermal transfer ribbon. This existing ribbon did not have the smudge resistance it required for high touch application such as those present in garment labelling.
ACE suggested the ACE8371 - optimal for difficult environments such as garment labelling, as it has high fade and smear resistance.
ACE8371 allows for higher resistance of the label to smudging and fading and, as a result, the label remains easily readable and of high quality after several washes and during prolonged usage.
Outcome:
When the garments company switched to the ACE8371 solution, the problem of smudging was eliminated altogether. The new ribbon fulfilled standard of durability.

Results:
• Smudge resistance achieved: The ACE8371 ribbon totally eradicated problems related to smeared labels that were experienced in the past.
• Enhanced label durability: They now stay clear and legible as it is critical to brand outlook and or compliance to regulations.
• Improved operational efficiency: With this perfect ribbon in place, the company was able to minimise on time wastage occasioned by labelling problems improving the company ‘s flow.
